Welcome to Kiddie`s Corner

Welcome to the Young Warriors’ Den!

You Are a Hero. You Are a Warrior.

Welcome to your very own corner of the world! This is a place for the bravest kids in Lesotho. Whether you are at home, in the hospital, or on a trip to see the doctors, remember one thing: You are a Young Warrior.

What is a Young Warrior?

A Young Warrior isn’t someone who is never afraid. A Young Warrior is someone who is brave even when they do feel a little bit scared.

Being a Warrior means:

  • You have a Super Team: Your parents, doctors, nurses, and the CCO team are your sidekicks.

  • You have a Mission: To help your body get strong and healthy again.

  • You have a Secret Weapon: Your smile and your imagination!

Your Body’s "Super Team"

Sometimes, your body has some "naughty cells" that don't follow the rules. These cells try to take up too much space. Your medicine is like a team of tiny superheroes that goes inside your body to tell those naughty cells to leave!

  • The Medicine: These are your "Power-Ups." They might taste funny or make you feel sleepy, but they are working hard to help you win.

  • The Doctors: Think of them as the Coaches. They look at your "stats" (your blood and your energy) to make sure your Super Team is winning.

  • The Hospital: This is the "Training Base." It’s where you go to get the best gear and the best help.

The Big Box of Feelings

When you are on this journey, it’s normal to feel like you have a "Big Box of Feelings" inside you. You might feel:

  • Happy when you get to play.

  • Sad because you miss your bed or your friends.

  • Angry because the medicine is "yucky."

  • Brave when you finish a check-up.

Let’s Have Some Fun!

Even Warriors need to play. Here is what you can do today:

  • Draw Your Cape: If you had a magic cape that gave you super strength, what colors would it be? Draw it and hang it by your bed!

  • The High-Five Club: Every time you finish a treatment or a check-up, give yourself (and your nurse) a giant high-five. You just finished another mission!

  • Warrior Names: If you were a superhero, what would your name be? "The Brave Basotho Kid?" "Captain Courage?"

This is Mamokete Mapenchane, a Nephroblastoma warrior (kidney cancer). Mamokete was diagnosed with kidney cancer in 2025, like most Basotho children, it took a while before doctors could confirm that it is cancer. Mamokete was misdiagnosed, doctors thought she had TB, but later discovered it was not TB, but rather cancer. She was referred to Bloemfontein, she went through chemotherapy in order to shrink her tumor on her left kidney. Later she went through surgery, her left kidney was removed. Mamokete is doing well.

This is Ts'epo Sekolo, brain cancer warrior (medulloblastoma). Ts'epo was diagnosed with medulloblastoma in 2025, after experiencing headaches, sezures and projectile vomiting. Ts'epo was referred to Bloemfontein where he went through multiple surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation treatment. Ts'epo is still going strong in this journey.

Meet Kamohelo Ramohlabi, leukemia warrior. Kamohelo was diagnosed with advanced leukemia due to late diagnosis. With little hope from her mom Kamohelo kept fighting. Like most warriors, she had high fever, lymph nodes and lost weight. Kamohelo went through aggressive chemotherapy and she is doing very well.

This is Lebajoa Letele, Rhabdomyosarcoma warrior. Lebajoa was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma in 2015. Tumor was seen in Lebajoa's eyelid. It kept growing until it covered his eye completely. Lebajoa was referred to Bloemfontein for treatment, multiple surgeries were done on his eye to remove the tumor. Lebajoa later went through chemotherapy and radiation treatment. He is doing well, but his eye is affected, and cannot see properly, he has to use eye drops everyday.
