Awareness & Outreach: Spreading the Message of Hope
At CCO, we believe that education is the first step toward a cure. By increasing public awareness, we break down the myths surrounding childhood cancer and ensure that families know where to turn when they need help. Our outreach initiatives span every region, reaching the hearts and minds of the community where they live, work, and worship.
Community & Corporate Engagement
We don’t wait for people to come to us; we take our message to the frontlines of society. Our team conducts interactive awareness talks and workshops across a wide range of platforms:
Local Communities: Engaging with faith-based organizations, schools, and community centers.
Humanitarian Partners: Collaborating with dedicated NGOs like CHOC (Childhood Cancer Foundation South Africa.
Corporate Wellness: Participating in employee wellness days to help working parents recognize early warning signs.
Government Advocacy: Aligning with provincial and national health events to keep pediatric oncology on the public agenda.
Media & Digital Presence
In an information-driven world, keeping the "Young Warriors" top of mind is essential. We leverage the power of traditional and digital media to spread life-saving knowledge far and wide:
Broadcasting: Frequent radio and television interviews to reach households across the country.
In Print: Insightful articles and features in leading newspapers and magazines.
Digital Advocacy: A vibrant social media presence and regional newsletters that keep our supporters informed, inspired, and connected.
Partnering for the Cause
We believe in the power of collective action. CCO proudly supports and facilitates external fundraising events, empowering individuals, schools, and businesses to host their own initiatives in aid of our mission. When you fundraise for CCO, you aren't just raising money; you are raising awareness.
Awareness Training: Bridging the Gap to Survival
The statistics are a call to action: it is estimated that two-thirds of children with cancer never reach a treatment centre. Of those who do, the vast majority are already in the advanced stages of the disease.
To change these outcomes, we must change the conversation. CCO’s Awareness Training is an ongoing mission to ensure that every child—no matter where they live—is diagnosed early enough to fight.
A Collaborative Frontline
Since 2019, CCO has partnered with the Ministry of Health and Traditional Healers Organisations to create a unified network of vigilance. We empower those who are first to see a sick child with the knowledge to act. Our training reaches:
Healthcare Professionals & Workers: Strengthening clinical referral pathways.
Traditional Healers: Respecting local traditions while integrating life-saving medical knowledge.
Community Leaders: Turning neighbors into advocates for early detection.
The St. Siluan Early Warning Signs
At the heart of our training is the St. Siluan signs—a clear, accessible guide to identifying childhood cancer. By teaching these signs, we do more than share facts; we demystify myths and break the stigma that often surrounds the disease.
We are actively dismantling the culture of silence that prevents families from seeking care. By shifting attitudes and practices, we are directly reducing mortality and ensuring that "late-stage" is no longer the norm.
A Growing National Footprint
What began as a pilot program in five districts of Lesotho has transformed into a nationwide movement. Our reach now extends as far as Mokhotlong and beyond, with CCO regional offices conducting grassroots outreach campaigns in the most remote corners of the country.
Where there is knowledge, there is hope.

At CCO, we are committed to nurturing the hope and well-being of Lesotho’s Young Warriors. We are honored to be a part of their path to recovery. Stay connected with us for vital early detection tips, survivor stories, and updates on how we are bringing hope, one child at a time.
